Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-08-15
1. Scope
This policy explains how BeaverByte Software Inc. collects, uses, and protects personal information when you order a BeaverCard, use your dashboard, or view a public BeaverCard profile. We handle personal information in line with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). If you’re in the EU/UK, we also honour the rights described below as required by GDPR/UK GDPR.
2. What we collect, and why
| Data | Why we collect it | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Name, shipping address, phone, email | To produce and ship your card, and contact you about your order | Contract (fulfilling your order) |
| Payment details | To charge you — handled entirely by Stripe, we never see full card numbers | Contract |
| Profile content (bio, links, socials, photo) | To publish your BeaverCard profile, which you control | Contract / your instruction |
| Card tap time, card ID, referrer hostname and truncated browser/device user-agent | To show the card owner basic tap analytics and diagnose redirect compatibility; we do not store a visitor IP address with a tap | Legitimate interest |
| Support emails | To respond to your questions or claims | Legitimate interest |
3. Who we share it with
We share data only with the processors needed to run the service:
- Stripe — payment processing (Stripe holds your payment details, not us)
- Our hosting provider — runs the application and database
- Our email provider — sends order confirmations and account emails
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with data brokers or advertisers.
4. How long we keep it
Order and payment records are kept for as long as required for tax and accounting purposes (typically 7 years under Canadian tax law). Profile content is kept for as long as your account is active, or until you delete it. If you close your account, we delete personal information within 30 days except where we’re required to retain it by law.
Card-tap records are retained for up to 12 months and then deleted by a scheduled retention job. Authentication and activation security records are retained only as needed to protect accounts and investigate abuse; final operational periods require legal review before launch.
5. Your rights
You can, at any time:
- Export your profile data from your dashboard
- Correct or update your information directly in your dashboard
- Request deletion of your account and personal data
- Ask what personal information we hold about you
To exercise any of these rights, email support@beavercard.ca — our privacy contact.
6. Cookies
We use only the cookies required to keep you signed in and to remember your dashboard preferences. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
7. Public profile pages
Anything you choose to make public on your BeaverCard profile (your name, photo, links, contact details you’ve toggled visible) is, by design, visible to anyone who taps or scans your card. You control what’s public from your dashboard.
8. Changes to this policy
If we make a material change to this policy, we’ll notify active customers by email before it takes effect.
